Tom Brady is once again in the news in his retirement, this time for running a faster 40-yard dash in his mid-40s than he did when he was first picked. However, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell isn’t so sure it actually happened.

Below, you can see the video of current 46-year-old Brady’s 40-yard dash alongside the one he ran at the NFL Draft combine prior to his pro career. Pretty spectacular stuff, that is, if you believe it’s true.

While at the combine himself, Minnesota coach Kevin O’Connell stopped by to converse with Rich Eisen on the NFL Network, where Eisen pointed out the incredible feat by Tom Brady.

“You see Brady’s running faster now? You see that one?” asked Eisen, with O’Connell responding: “That’s unbelievable. Is it legit?”

Eisen didn’t seem too skeptical of the video, and asked: “What do you mean is it legit?”

O’Connell, not wanting to go all in and call Brady a liar and a faker, merely commented: “You can do a lot of things. I’ve seen what you guys can do with technology.”

Eisen joked back: “Are you saying it’s A.I.12 instead of the TB12?”

Coach O’Connell then made the case, pointing out details of the situation that are a little bit odd to him:

“I would not put it past him one bit. I mean, wearing sneakers, turf field, beating his time. I mean, put a pair of cleats on him and he probably breaks the five (second mark). What are we talking about?”

Eisen could hardly believe such a bold take and commented of O’Connell’s opinion: “That’s a way to come out of the gate here.”

Well, he may just be trying to break that five-second barrier, as O’Connell suggested.

Brady recently announced that his Brady Brand was partnering with NOBULL footwear and apparel in a merger that makes the two brands one new entity. Of course, he opted to wear the NOBULL shoes to do his 40-yard dash. He also posted, “Sub 5.00 next year. Level up,” in response to the clip.

Few who’ve seen Tom Brady‘s 40-yard dash at the 2000 NFL Scouting Combine will ever forget it. The NFL legend’s Average Joe performance on that day contributed to the QB dropping to pick No. 199 in the draft. Now, at 46 years old, the former Patriots star is running even faster than he did as a 22-year-old draft hopeful.

Overlaid with his 2000 Combine run, it’s clear that the seven-time Super Bowl Champion has come a long way with his athleticism in 24 years. He clocked a 5.12 in the clip, compared to 5.28 at the combine.
