Wake Forest forward Andrew Carr enters NCAA Transfer Portal, declares for 2024 NBA Draft

On Monday, Wake Forest forward Andrew Carr announced he will be entering the transfer portal and declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft while maintaining his collegiate eligibility. Carr spent two seasons at Delaware before transferring to Wake Forest ahead of the 2022-23 season.

This past season, Carr was one of three players on the team to start all 35 games for the Demon Deacons. The 6-foot-11 standout averaged 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 52.6% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc.

Wake Forest finished this season with a 21-14 record and 10-6 mark in conference play. The team ultimately fell 72-66 to Georgia in the second round of the NIT. In the loss, Carr exploded for a career-high 31 points and 11 rebounds.

Along with his decision, Carr included a heartfelt message to Wake Forest fans.

“First, I want to thank God for allowing me to play the game that I love,” Carr wrote. “I will continue to trust in Him through this process.”

“I want to thank the Wake Forest community for welcoming me with open arms. Thank you for pushing me to grow as a player and as a person over the last two years. I’m proud to be finishing my degree and graduating this spring. I will always be a Demon Deacon and Winston Salem will always have a special place in my heart. I want to thank my teammates, my coaches, the staff and faculty for believing in me and for your contribution to my growth on and off the court. I am forever thankful for the opportunities and the experiences that l’ve had here at Wake Forest.”

“I also want to give a very special thanks to my family and friends for always having my back and being there for me as I pursue my goals. After discussion with my family, I will be declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft and entering the transfer portal while maintaining my eligibility.”

Andrew Carr played high school basketball at West Chester East (PA), where he was an unranked prospect in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He is the fourth Wake Forest player to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal during or after the 2023-24 season. The Demon Deacons have also added Appalachian State small forward Tre’Von Spillers, via the portal.
