Brandon Aiyuk only had two catches during the 49ers vs. Cardinals game that took place in Mexico Monday night, and both went for touchdowns. However, on one of his scores, Aiyuk celebrated by enacting his best Greg Maddux impersonation, beaming the ball straight towards the back wall after catching it in the end zone.

Except, a cameraman stood (or kneeled) between him and the wall, and when Aiyuk launched that sucker it flew straight towards the poor dude with the camera, who’s lens-locked view prevented him from seeing the ball’s trajectory — that it was headed straight towards the “Mr. Torpedo area” — as Burt Reynolds refers to it in Boogie Nights.

That’s right, Aiyuk celebrated his score by nailing a camera dude in the groin with the football. And he put some heat on that thing, too. The third-year receiver’s immediate reaction was that of a person once wounded in that area, too. Dudes around the world understand: that hurts.

Don’t we all wish we had a friend like Christian McCaffrey, who witnessed the assault via pigskin by his fellow teammate on the defenseless cameraman and came to comfort him. He and Aiyuk both went over to greet the fella with a hug and a pat on the head in the aftermath of his injury.

All’s well that ends well. A story to tell the children some day…if he’s able to have any.

If not for this little drama, there’d really be nothing of note to say about the Monday night win for San Francisco over Arizona. Mexico definitely didn’t get the most exciting showcase of football, with Jimmy G and the 49ers absolutely blowing out the Cardinals and backup quarterback Colt McCoy by a final score of 38-10.
