The Dallas Cowboys opened the second half with their first touchdown of the game on a 73-yard touchdown reception by Cedrick Wilson from Cooper Rush. Wilson found a huge gap in the defense and Rush hit him in the middle of his stride, allowing Wilson to take the ball all the way in for the score.

Cooper Rush’s big touchdown to Cedrick Wilson

After catching the ball on the logo at midfield, Wilson simply sped by the defense before giving a small move to the last defender and finishing the play. The pass was Rush’s first touchdown of his career as well, breathing life into the Cowboys’ offense with Cedrick Wilson’s effort after they struggled in the first half.

Starting quarterback Dak Prescott was ruled out for the game just hours before kickoff, following a calf injury he sustained before the Cowboys’ bye week. Dallas opted to rest their star and give the offense to Cooper Rush for his first career start.

The touchdown catch was Wilson’s third of the season, as he continues to find production for the Cowboys despite limited opportunities. Through the first six games of the season, Wilson has only been targeted 19 times and had managed 14 catches.

Dallas battling offensive injuries

On top of Prescott being unavailable, the Cowboys lost a starting offensive lineman to injury during the second quarter of Sunday’s game. Tackle Tyron Smith was seen on the sideline not wearing a helmet after being evaluated by the medical team. Smith entered the game already on the Cowboys’ injury report with an ankle injury.

“Cowboys LT Tyron Smith is dealing with an injury of some sort on sideline,” stated the Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken. “Not wearing a helmet after being evaluated after offense’s last possession. Smith entered game with ankle issue. Unclear if this is related.”

Shortly after the news that Smith was seen on the sidelines unable to enter the game, Ty Nsekhe was substituted into the game at left tackle. Smith’s night appeared to be over for the Cowboys, and will likely undergo further examination of his ankle.

Smith and Prescott were both limited in practice during the week leading up to the game, and were considered questionable by the end of the week. Despite the concerns, Smith was ruled active for the game with the Vikings and started, while the Cowboys played it safe with Prescott.
