WATCH: Dawson Knox catches a 53-yard touchdown bomb
Former Ole Miss tight end Dawson Knox has absolutely been cooking lately for the Buffalo Bills. Check out this 53-yard bomb he caught on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The touchdown catch put the Bills up 24-10 on the Chiefs. Buffalo currently leads 24-13 and the game is in a lightning delay at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
Tonight against the Chiefs, the former Ole Miss standout has snagged two catches for 76 receiving yards, while bringing in one touchdown (above).
This season, he’s already hauled in five touchdown passes from Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen. His five touchdown catches currently lead all tight ends in the NFL. During first two seasons in the NFL, Knox scored five touchdowns total.
Last week against the Texans, he hauled in five catches for 38 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.
The only game in the 2021 season he didn’t score a touchdown came against the Pittsburgh Steelers (Sept. 12), but even in that one, he hauled in four catches for 41 receiving yards.
The former Ole Miss standout has been a pleasant surprise for the Bills for the 2021 season, considering he had a catch rate of just over 54 percent in 2020.
Some of the drops were due to off-target throws by Allen, but it’s safe to say Knox has made a big jump in his development and cleaned up his drops this season.
Dawson Knox Ole Miss career
The talented tight end had his best two years in Oxford in 2017 and 2018. Over those last two seasons, he hauled in 39 catches for over 600 receiving yards, with zero touchdown passes. Knox ran a 4.64-40-yard dash at the 2019 NFL Combine, ranking him in the 86th percentile in that category for a player of his size. Knox’s brother, Luke Knox, is currently a redshirt junior tight end for the Ole Miss Rebels.
