The WM Phoenix Open is one of the best weekends on the golf calendar. It’s the biggest party on Tour and fans travel from all over to watch the tournament. However, too many people are currently at TPC Scottsdale as they have stopped allowing people into the event.

“Due to larger than usual crowds, the WM Phoenix Open entrance gates are temporarily closed and shuttle service to the event is on hold,” the tournament’s X account said in a statement. “Shuttle service back to parking lots will remain running. Regularly check our channels for updates.”

Photos of crowds on the outside have emerged, with some people waiting for over an hour.

Fans are still inside the gates and enjoying the tournament. However, people have taken to social media saying alcohol sales have been cut off. Nothing official on that matter has come from the tournament but usually a staple of the WM Phoenix Open, drinks apparently are not being sold to patrons at the moment.

The third round is currently in progress and Sahith Theegala is the leader at -13. Andrew Novak and Nick Taylor are both just a stroke back and will tee off at 5:10 ET. Hopefully, a few people on the outside will get to watch the leaders and continue the party at TPC Scottsdale.

Fan jumps into bunker to create sand angels at WM Phoenix Open

The 16th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open is one of the most fun holes in golf, in part due to its setup of the gallery and in part due to its reputation.

It’s regarded as one of the wildest experiences on the PGA Tour, with fans often blitzed and rowdy from tee shot to green.

One fan took it a little too far on Saturday.

Paige Spiranac posted a video from the course, showing a fan who had jumped from the stands onto the course, making a beeline for a green-side bunker. The fan jumped feet first into the bunker, appeared to think twice of his strategy and then did a half-handstand, half-somersault onto his back.

Once on his back, he began to make sand angels.

Then, perhaps sensing the Waste Management Phoenix Open security closing in on him, the fan jumped out of the bunker, gestured to the crowd to make some noise and ran up the fairway.
