3-Star CB Jamyan Theodore Sets Commitment Date After Kentucky Official Visit: 'It Was a Great Trip'

Jamyan Theodore has wrapped up his first official visit to Kentucky. He’s got a few more visits set for later this month and then he’ll be ready to make his decision.
The 6-foot, 165-pound cornerback from Baylor School (Chattanooga, TN) told KSR+ that he’s set a commitment date. He also recapped his recent Kentucky visit on May 31.
“It was a great trip. I got to spend some time with the coaching staff and spend some time with Coach [Chris] Collins,” The trip was great. I got to spend a lot of time with the coaching staff and got around campus a whole bunch. There was a committed recruit there. My teammate, Charlie Edgeworth, was also there. It was really a great visit, spending time with the recruits, the players, and seeing how the campus is.”
Theodore has been hearing from the Kentucky staff since the beginning of the year. He said they’ve been ramping up their recruitment of late.
“Since they offered, they’ve been building a really good relationship with me. They’ve been keeping in contact with me. It’s been great,” Theodore said. “Based on the conversations I’ve had with Coach Collins and Coach [Brad] White, they think I remind them of Maxwell Hairston, who just got drafted in the first round.”
What’s Next?
Jamyan Theodore has one official visit to Kentucky under his belt, but he’s not done yet. Next, he’s planning to visit Wisconsin (June 7), followed by Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Louisville.
Theodore told KSR+ that he plans to commit on July 1 in Montreal, Canada. He laid out the factors for his decision.
“The main factors are the relationship with the coaching staff,” Theodore said. “I want to make sure I have a good relationship with the coaching staff, that they have a good plan for me, and that they see the value that I could bring. That’s my goal: to play as early as possible, get on the field, have an impact on the team, and lead the team to great things. I want to have a coach who believes in me and sees the potential in me.”
Jamyan Theodore’s Game
Three-star cornerback Jamyan Theodore of Baylor School (TN) is the nation’s No. 741 overall prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks Theodore as the No. 82-ranked cornerback and the No. 22 best player in Tennessee.
“I’m a playmaker who can make a play on the ball,” Theodore said. “Also, the way I can flip my hips, come out of my break, and shut down the best receiver. That’s what I’ve been all year.”
Theodore is looking to improve his eyes on the field. He also wants to be more physical.
“I’m a great player. If I come to Kentucky, I’m going to give it my all and stay committed to that program,” Theodore said. “I’m going to lead the team to a championship and be the best player.”
