AUBURN -- The first full recruiting class under Hugh Freeze and co. can be considered nothing short of a tremendous success. The amount of ground this staff made up in the last 13 months is significant. Freeze said the goal was to land Auburn football inside the top 10. The Tigers currently sit at No. 7 overall the day after early signing period. Auburn needed to upgrade the wide receiver room and they did that with Cam Coleman, Perry Thompson, Bryce Cain, Malcolm Simmons, transfer Robert Lewis, and they might not be done. The linebacker class is excellent with Joseph Phillips, Demarcus Riddick, D'Angelo Barber, and experienced Duke transfer Dorian Mausi. Freeze will always target elite quarterbacks and Walker White was that guy from the beginning. DeAndre Carter is a massive interior lineman from California who Auburn landed over the likes of Texas and USC, showing that the Tigers still have national appeal. Then there's the pair of flips from the Florida class in Amaris Williams and Jamonta Waller, and then there was the addition of Favour Edwin who was coveted by Florida and Alabama alike. All in all, Auburn has 10 prospects signed inside the Top-225 nationally, and 13 total On3 Sports Consensus 4-star signees. I was curious, so how does Freeze's first full class compare to the likes of recent first-year head coaches Gene Chizik, Gus Malzahn and Bryan Harsin? Let's take a look.
