AUBURN -- The safety position for Auburn will finally look different after several seasons of familiarity. The position features seven scholarship players entering spring camp. Gone are 109 total tackles or 15 percent of all tackles made last season. The safeties have a new coach too, as co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will coach the safeties in addition to helping DJ Durkin with anything he needs in terms of coordinating the defense. Kelly replaces Zac Etheridge, who resigned during the offseason and is now on staff at Houston. Kelly is a coaching veteran and no stranger to the SEC, so the safeties should be well prepared for what's to come in the best league in college football. What’s the state of things heading into the spring as it pertains to scholarship safeties? Let’s take a quick look.
