CLEMSON — The wins just keep on coming.

Clemson held off Northeastern for a 9-6 victory Friday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to remain perfect on the season.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 13-0 on the year. Northeastern drops to 6-6-1 with the loss. While Northeastern’s record isn’t great, they were coming off of a sweep of NC State last weekend.

The Tigers are off to their best start since 2002, and Clemson has 13 wins by March 11 after it took them until April to reach the 13-win mark in 2021.

Clemson continues to pitch well as the Tigers allowed only two earned runs the first eight innings of the game.

The Tigers did have a couple of errors, which contributed to Northeastern scoring two unearned runs.

Mack Anglin earned the win for Clemson, allowing two earned runs in 5 innings of work to improve to 3-0 on the year. The Tigers used five different pitchers in the win.

Clemson took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning as Dylan Brewer and Tyler Corbitt came up clutch with RBI singles.

After Northeastern fought back to tie the game at 2-2 in the fifth, Cooper Ingle gave Clemson the lead for good with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Clemson added a pair of runs on a wild pitch and groundout, before Max Wagner broke the game open with a two-run homer to give Clemson a 7-2 lead.

Northeastern pulled to within 7-4 in the sixth, but Clemson regained control with a Jonathan French home run and a sac fly in the bottom half of the frame.

Northeastern scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth before the Tigers closed it out. Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m., before the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.

Clemson then begins ACC play next weekend, hosting Miami for a three-game series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
