CLEMSON — Dabo Swinney held his weekly teleconference Sunday night and provided injury updates on Bryan Bresee, Will Shipley and James Skalski.

The three stars were banged up during Saturday’s loss to NC State.

Bresee suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Will Shipley did not tear his ACL but will be out three-to-four weeks with a leg injury. James Skalski “will be fine,” Swinney said. He did not elaborate.

“Bresee tore his ACL. We did get some great news on Will Shipley. He did not tear his ACL, so he will be back somewhere in the next few weeks,” Swinney said. “That’s a huge, huge plus for us. We were not optimistic there.”

Bresee is Clemson’s top defensive lineman. The former No. 1 overall recruit has 12 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks on the year.

Clemson was already without another one of its top defensive players in defensive tackle Tyler Davis.

Shipley, a freshman, is Clemson’s starting running back. He had 36 rushing yards and a touchdown on Saturday.

Skalski is the heart and soul of the Tigers’ team. He banged up his shoulder in the first half Saturday and did not return.

Swinney and the Clemson coaching staff were afraid that Shipley had suffered a torn ACL as well. They were relieved to learn Sunday that he had not.

“It was kind of like his shin, tibia area. He’ll probably be on crutches here for a couple weeks and then work back in after that as far as his rehab and all of that,” Swinney said. “Could be three weeks, could be four weeks. I’m not really sure. But all I know is he’s going to be back at some point, which is a huge positive. We were kind of expecting the worst there.”

Swinney also announced that reserve cornerback Fred Davis, who did not travel for the game at NC State, rolled his ankle Thursday in practice. Swinney is hoping he will be back this week.
