CLEMSON — The future of Clemson’s secondary continues to come together.

About an hour after the Tigers landed a commitment from four-star safety Keon Sabb, four-star cornerback Daylen Everette committed to the Tigers on Saturday as well.

Everette announced his decision on CBS Sports HQ. He is the 10th commit for the Tigers in the class of 2022 and the fifth defensive player Clemson has landed

The IMG Academy prospect is the No. 37 overall player in the country and No. 7 cornerback in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is the second cornerback commit for the Tigers in the class, joining fellow four-star Toriano Pride.

Pride committed to Clemson last month, while the Tigers could still add another cornerback to the class in Mauldin’s Jeadyn Lukus.

Clemson now has four defensive back commitments in its class — Everette, Sabb, Pride and four-star safety Sherrod Covil.

Everette chose Clemson over offers from North Carolina, Georgia and Florida State. He also held offers from Alabama, Florida, LSU and others.

What addition of Daylen Everette means for Clemson

The Tigers clearly made upgrading the secondary a priority after struggling against Ohio State in last year’s College Football Playoff.

It’s safe to say mission accomplished.

Clemson has landed four four-star prospects for its secondary already in the class of 2022, and the Tigers are also in good shape with four-star cornerback Jeadyn Lukus.

Clemson’s two additions on Saturday — Sabb and Everette — are both top-60 overall players in the country.

Tigers cornerbacks coach Mike Reed, safeties coach Mickey Conn and defensive coordinator Brent Venables are doing an outstanding job of accumulating talent in the secondary for the class of 2022.

This year’s secondary haul should help insure that the Tigers have an elite secondary for years to come.
