Clemson set to host three-game weekend series against Hartford

Clemson has started the season hot, off to a 4-0 start. And now they will look to continue that streak this weekend against Hartford (0-0) at home at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Hawks are coming off an 18-21 campaign, and are led by first-year head coach Steve Malinowsk.

Here is a quick breakdown of the expected starting pitchers for the series:

Friday – RHP Tim Blaisdell (HAR) vs. RHP Mack Anglin (CU)
Saturday – RHP James Judenis (HAR) vs. RHP Nick Clayton (CU)
Sunday – RHP Will Nowak (HAR) vs. RHP Nick Hoffmann (CU)

Each game this weekend can be watched on ACCNX, while games will be broadcasted on the Clemson Athletic Network and at ClemsonTigers.com.

First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m., while Saturday’s game is set for 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Atlanta Braves have announced they will be bringing their World Series trophy to Clemson. This is part of the organization’s tour with 151 stops across the Southeast, commemorating 151 years of Braves baseball.

The trophy will be at Doug Kingsmore throughout the game. Fans are invited to take photos with the 2021 World Series Trophy while enjoying the game; a game ticket is required for entry. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

Three key players banged up as Clemson heads into final stretch

Clemson head coach Brad Brownell revealed another injury a starter on the Tigers basketball team is dealing with following Wednesday night’s win over Wake Forest.

In addition to PJ Hall and Hunter Tyson being banged up, forward David Collins has also been battling multiple injuries throughout the year.

Collins has been playing through a hurt thumb and banged up thigh most of the season and has had his practice time-limited. He didn’t practice ahead of Wednesday’s game against Wake Forest.

Tigers prioritizing 2023 safety DaKaari Nelson

Clemson just recently got in the mix for Selma (Ala.) safety DaKaari Nelson.

Mickey Conn was in touch with Nelson for some time, even stopping by his school on multiple occasions last month. When Jan. 29 arrived, the Tigers took the next step with Nelson following his visit for their Elite Junior Day event.

While speaking with The Wolverine’s Tim Verghese this past weekend, Nelson tabbed Clemson as one of the schools he’s communicating with the most. He also listed Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Penn State, and Tennessee when revealing which programs are speaking with him on a regular basis.

What co-DC Mickey Conn wants to see from safeties this spring

Clemson safeties coach Mickey Conn oversaw a group with a lot of talent last season, led by senior Nolan Turner and freshman All-American Andrew Mukuba.

Conn has a lot of proven returners back for 2022, including Mukuba, Lannden ZandersJalyn PhillipsTyler Venables and RJ Mickens. While all five of those players have played a lot of football and played well at times during their college careers, Conn sees plenty of room for improvement.

Clemson’s safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator detailed on Signing Day where he wants to see improvements from the safeties this spring.
