Clemson softball stays perfect in Tiger Invitational

Clemson picked up two wins on Sunday, knocking off both Illinois and Liberty at McWhorter Stadium. The two wins improve the Tigers to 16-6 on the season with an 0-3 mark in ACC play, while also building to a 3-0 record in this weekend’s Tiger Invitational.

The win over Illinois came in the first game of the day and also marked Clemson’s 100th game in program history; a  4-0 shutout against Illinois which saw left-handed pitcher Millie Thompson set a new career record with 11 strikeouts.

The second half of the doubleheader came down to the wire, as the Tigers needed extra innings to decide the winner as things remained tied 3-3 after seven innings. Clemson pulled off the 4-3 over Liberty as pinch-hitter Kyah Keller hit between shortstop and second base to bring home both runners and give the Tigers an extra-innings walk off win in the bottom of the eighth.

Clemson turns around and faces Liberty in a single game at 4 p.m. on Monday night at McWhorter Stadium. Season ticket holders have received a mobile ticket in their normal season ticket location for Monday’s game, while additional single game tickets are available to purchase here.

Recruiting Notebook: Intel from big visit weekend for Clemson

For the second consecutive weekend, the Clemson Tigers welcomed a multitude of prospects on campus.

Saturday was not the same as their junior day on March 5, which led to nearly double-digit recruits earning offers. This weekend, however, focused primarily on hosting some of the top 2024 players on Clemson’s radar for visits and furthering the established relationships with them.

Clemson Sports has intel from this big weekend, including reactions from a handful of visitors.

Clemson misses out on NIT, season ends at 17-16

The 2021-22 Clemson basketball season appears to be over. The NIT revealed its bracket Sunday night and the Tigers are not in it.

Unless Clemson accepts a bid to a lesser tournament, its season ends with a 17-16 record. While the Tigers did not make the postseason, they do finish the year with a winning record for the ninth consecutive year.

This marks the first time since 2016 that Clemson will not play in the postseason. The only other year the Tigers didn’t play in the postseason was 2020, but no postseason tournaments were held that year.

Clemson drops Game 3 to Northeastern, suffers first loss of 2022 season

Clemson’s incredible winning streak to open the 2022 season finally came to an end Sunday afternoon.

Northeastern defeated the Tigers 5-3 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, snapping Clemson’s run of 14 straight wins to start the year. The start was Clemson’s best since 1992.

Tigers starter Nick Clayton allowed five runs — three of them earned — in 4 1/3 innings of work in the loss. That was all of the scoring the Huskies needed to come away victorious.
