Clemson softball earns first top-10 win in program history

No. 15 Clemson knocked off No. 6 Washington on Sunday afternoon, delivering the Tigers their first top-10 win in program history. Valerie Cagle hit a solo shot and struck out 10 batters to propel them to a 2-0 win, handing Washington its first loss of the season.

Clemson’s Marissa Guimbarda led off the second inning with a double. Alia Logoleo drove in the run two outs later, giving the Tigers the early 1-0 lead. Cagle was in a pitcher’s duel for most of the day; Washington’s Gabbie Plain allowed just five hits in six innings with seven strikeouts.

With the win, the Tigers are 6-3 on the season and are off until they visit Charlotte on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

2023 LB Jamal Anderson has a date in mind for a return visit to Clemson

While Clemson’s upcoming junior day is receiving a lot of attention, the program will be hosting some prospects on campus exactly one week later.

On March 12, some noteworthy names will be making their way to the school. 2024 wideouts Debron Gatling and Mazeo Bennett, as well as junior defensive lineman Keith Sampson Jr., are just a few of the recruits slated to be in town on that day.

Another prospect tells Clemson Sports that he may be visiting Clemson the second Saturday of March as well. Jamal Anderson, a three-star linebacker out of Hoschton (Georgia), says that trip is still in the works.

Clemson basketball insider: PJ Hall update, how Josh Beadle is coming along

What has been a tough season for the Clemson basketball team got even more difficult on Saturday when leading scorer PJ Hall left the game at Louisville after only one minute of action due to a foot injury.

Hall has been dealing with a foot injury all season and it flared up on him when catching a pass early in the first half on Saturday.

We spoke with a source Sunday afternoon who said a preliminary x-ray in Louisville looked “OK.” More testing was scheduled to be done Sunday, but we haven’t heard anything on those results yet.

Clemson earns walk-off win to complete sweep of Indiana

Clemson finished off a sweep of Indiana in dramatic fashion Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers earned a 5-4 walk-off victory over the Hoosiers in 10 innings on a sacrifice fly by first baseman Bryar Hawkins with runners on the corners and one out. Benjamin Blackwell scored on the play to give Clemson a perfect 3-0 start to the weekend.

Clemson opened the season with a 9-0 victory over Indiana on Friday, before following that up with a 19-4 win over the Hoosiers on Saturday.

Clemson Sports senior writer Matt Connolly broke down more of the sweep here.
