Gators Online Show: Assessing Florida's FPI projections, DJ Lagway in 2024
Welcome to the Gators Online Show! For episode 94, co-hosts Zach Abolverdi and Nick de la Torre assess Florida’s initial Football Power Index projections from ESPN, DJ Lagway‘s potential snap count in 2024 and more.
The four-letter network released its first edition of the 2024 Football Power Index this week and Florida is ranked No. 20 nationally with an FPI of 10.1, which ranks 11th among SEC schools. UF also plays the hardest schedule in the country according to ESPN’s FPI.
We share our reaction to the preseason projections for the Gators from the first Football Power Index for 2024, which include a win-loss record of 5.9-6.1, a 58.2% chance of winning six games and an 8.3% chance of making the College Football Playoffs.
The next topic is a question from this week’s mailbag: Will Florida freshman quarterback DJ Lagway play more or less than 100 snaps this year? We discuss the likelihood of Lagway hitting that mark and how he could be used behind Graham Mertz.

We wrap up the show with a preview of the Florida baseball team’s matchup with Clemson for a trip to the College World Series. The Gators advanced to the Super Regionals by winning the Stillwater Regional last week and will now face a program with ties to UF coach Kevin O’Sullivan and one of his staff members.
