Georgia moved to 12-1 on the season with a pair of midweek wins on Tuesday and Wednesday. First, the Bulldogs hit the road to SRP Park in Augusta and took down Georgia Southern 7-2 before returning home and topping Stetson 11-5.

Tuesday – Georgia Southern

UGA jumped on the board first in the third inning as Paul Toetz crossed home plate on a wild pitch. However, after Georgia Southern responded in the bottom of the fourth, the game was tied.

Jarvis Evans gave Georgia 5.0 innings of work on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out eight. That performance, combo’d with the outings from Brandt Pancer, Tyler McLoughlin and Zach DeVito, helped keep things tied at 1 into the ninth inning before the Bulldog bats exploded. A Sebastian Murillo single brought home Henry Hunter to put UGA ahead before the lead was extended to 3-1 thanks to Toetz. Then, Slate Alford did the damage to put the game away with a grand slam, his fourth home run and 14th RBI of the year.

Wednesday – Stetson

Come Wednesday, it was once again the Georgia bats that propelled UGA to victory. Charlie Condon sent one 454 feet to put the Bulldogs on the board 2-0 just four pitches into the game before Kolby Branch added another long ball in the second inning, a solo shot that made it 3-0.

While Stetson’s Logan Hughes responded with a pair of home runs of his own in the third and the fifth, putting the Hatters ahead 4-3, Alford and Branch struck back. An Alford bases-clearing double brought home three in the fifth before Branch hit another home run, the Bulldogs’ second grand slam in as many days. Another Alford home run in the sixth made it 11-4 on the way to the win.

Zach Harris picked up his second win of the season, throwing 2.0 innings out of the bullpen in relief for Christian Mracna. Josh Roberge, Daniel Padysak, DJ Radtke and Max DeJong all threw an inning as the six Bulldogs combined to allowed just five hits including hitless outings from Roberge, Padysak and Radtke.
