Big Ten Announces Single/Double plays for hoops

The Big Ten will be bigger in 2024. The conference will officially add UCLA, USC, Washington, and Oregon starting this fall. On Wednesday, they were officially on the books for the men’s college basketball season as the conference announced single play home and away opponents, along with double play foes for the 2024-25 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Season.

With the conference playing a 20 game schedule, Iowa will be playing three schools home and away and then split up seven single plays at home and seven on the road. Times and dates for all games will be announced in the early fall.

Iowa will host new conference opponents Oregon and Washington, while traveling to UCLA and USC. Looking back at the history books, the last time Iowa face Oregon was the NCAA Tournament in 2021. The last time the Ducks played in Iowa City was December of 1949. Iowa and Washington have faced each other five times. The last time the Huskies played in Iowa City was December of 1965.

As far as UCLA and USC, Iowa last played the Bruins in December of 1990. UCLA holds a 5-3 edge in the overall series and the last time Iowa played at UCLA was February of 1982. The Hawkeyes and USC have played seven times with Iowa holding a 5-2 edge in the series.  The last meeting at USC was in December of 1983.

Iowa’s three home and away opponents are Nebraska, Northwestern and Wisconsin.

The Hawkeyes will play home games against Indiana, Minnesota, Michigan State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue and Washington.  The team will go on the road for games against Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, Rutgers, UCLA and USC.
