Young Iowa linebackers staying patient
One of the toughest things for young player to do is stay patient and wait for your number to be called. That is especially true for the young linebackers at Iowa, who have performed at a very high level on special teams, which usually serves as a launching point for someone to become a starter.
It looked like that was about to happen for Jaden Harrell and perhaps Jaxon Rexroth after last season with the starting linebackers moving on. But, Nick Jackson, Jay Higgins, and Kyler Fisher opted to return for one more year and that means another year of waiting for the young backers. But, instead of reacting like many do in the era of the transfer portal, they decided to stay put and wait one more year. We asked them about that decision to stay and why they did what many players in the same situation wouldn’t do.
