Chief Michigan rival and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has a meltdown on national television after his team ran in a game-winning touchdown against 10 Notre Dame defenders with one second to go Saturday night, crying that his team is “tough” after former ND head coach Lou Holtz, 86, questioned its toughness in losses leading into the game.

“I’m really upset and disrespected about what Lou Holtz said about our team and Ohio State and Buckeye Nation. We’re not going to stand for that,” a red-faced Day said during his press conference after his team’s win. “We had one bad half a couple of years ago up in Ann Arbor. We did, the second half. Every game we play, we’re physical. I don’t know where that narrative comes from, but that ends tonight.”

Appearing on the Dan Dakich show, Holtz responded.

“I can understand why he did. He doesn’t want to talk about Michigan, 0-2,” Holtz said, referring to Day and Ohio State losing to Michigan by large margins each of the last two seasons. “He doesn’t want to talk about the big game coming up against Penn State and against Michigan again.

“He’s a great coach. He’s done a tremendous job. He’s a great offensive mind. He hired an outstanding defensive coordinator from Oklahoma State. I think he’s doing a tremendous job. Ohio State’s a good football team. I don’t think they’re a great football team. He can go after me all he wants.”

Throwing it back to Michigan’s 32-29 win over Nebraska in LIncoln in 2021 ahead of this year’s game.

Actor Vince Vaughn called Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh the best in the business.

Four-star safety Reggie Powers decommitted from Michigan State. The Wolverines are monitoring his recruitment and may make a push.

Quote Of The Day

“I see it coming together, for sure. I think it’s more about the consistency now than anything, just executing each block and strain through the whistle. Letting guys go over the top after [senior running back] Blake [Corum] maybe spits one for 8 yards and making sure the back-side guys don’t fold over the top and make the play. If we can all strain just a few more seconds, all those might become 40-yard, 50-yard touchdowns or whatever it may be. We just gotta keep straining, keep building and keep getting at it.”
