Not only is Saturday’s tilt a top-10 matchup, but Michigan has all sorts of festivities planned for the event. Fans are encouraged to wear maize and will be given pom-poms. There will be a flyover of Air Force F-16’s from the 112th Fighter Squadron of the 180th Fighter Wing.

The 1997 national championship team will be honored during the first quarter. Charles Woodson will be recognized for the 25th anniversary of his Heisman Trophy season. Aidan Hutchinson will also be recognized for winning the 2021 Lott Impact Trophy.

he Maize and Blue have fared extremely well at home overall under eighth-year head coach Jim Harbaugh, and haven’t dropped a game inside the friendly confines of The Big House since the shortened 2020 campaign’s final game — a 27-17 loss to Penn State with no fans in the stands.

Outside of the 2020 season, which saw no fans allowed inside Big Ten stadiums, Michigan is 37-5 in home games during the Harbaugh era. The Wolverines haven’t lost to any team other than Ohio State (three times) and Michigan State (twice) on Main Street under the head coach. Michigan has won its last 11, and 24 of 25, home tilts with spectators allowed.

Four-star center Papa Kante is visiting Michigan this weekend in an unofficial capacity and was spotted at practice Friday afternoon.

There was a ceremony Friday to dedicate the Michigan Stadium tunnel now named for Lloyd Carr. He and his 1997 team, which is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its national championship season, will be honored Saturday.

Franz Wagner put this defender in a blender.

Michigan basketball held its team media day Friday.

Quote Of The Day

“Last year, I think people on the team would say that we had more talent than this year, from a raw talent perspective. But I think this year the pieces fit a lot better. Don’t get me wrong — we still have a lot of talent. Jett Howard … definitely an NBA player. Jaelin [Llewellyn] and Joey [Baker] will be high-impact players.” — Hunter Dickinson on Michigan’s chemistry
