Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Eamonn Dennis will enter the transfer portal, he announced on Monday afternoon. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining at his next destination.

Dennis appeared in 14 games on special teams this season working on the punt coverage unit, making one tackle. He made 15 appearances in 2021-22 and made two tackles, but did not see any game action during his freshman year in 2020.

Dennis posted a farewell message on his social media accounts announcing his decision:

“I want to begin by expressing my gratitude to God for guiding me since the age of six when I first stepped onto the field. The opportunity to play in front of millions of people has always been a cherished dream, one that Michigan made happen.

“I want to extend my appreciation to Coach Harbaugh, Coach Moore, Coach Herb, and the entire coaching staff for their unwavering support and mentorship. To my teammates, who have became brothers, thank you for the lifelong memories. Being a Michigan man has taught me lessons that will resonate throughout my lifetime.

“Having completed my studies at UMICH in an accelerated 3.5 years and still holding two years of eligibility, after sincere reflection and heartfelt discussions with my family, I’ve made the decision to explore new opportunities through the transfer portal.

“Thank you to everyone who helped me throughout my journey & forever GO BLUE!”

Dennis was a three-star prospect and the No. 461 player in the country in the 2020 class, ranking as the fifth-best player in Massachussetts.

Michigan’s wide receiver room is expected to be led by junior Tyler Morris and sophomores Semaj Morgan and Fredrick Moore. Sophomores Kendrick Bell and Karmello English, in addition to senior Peyton O’Leary will also battle for time in spring ball. There is expected to be a wide-open competition for spots within the pass catcher unit.

The Wolverines opened spring camp on Monday to kick off the first set of practices of the Sherrone Moore era. Moore was hired to replace Jim Harbaugh in January after the national title-winning leader went back to the NFL to join the Los Angeles Chargers.

The spring transfer portal window opens from April 15-30, and there could be more movement in and out of the Michigan program. The Wolverines added a pair of transfers in linebacker Jaishawn Barham and offensive lineman Josh Priebe, both currently on campus and participating in spring ball.
