Michigan football went through some dark times after Lloyd Carr retired, and most felt they were over when Jim Harbaugh came home. It's taken a while, but championship level football — and expectations — have the program in the best shape it's been in since the 1990s. At the Towsley Museum is a mural of scenes from the last two Ohio State games, Michigan blowout wins that swung the rivalry back in Michigan’s favor. One of the pictures was of the team celebrating at midfield in Columbus last year after planting the flag. The joy on their faces — and yes, the love for one another — was evident. It's been a huge reason for their success, Harbaugh said this spring, and why they’re able to cancel out the “noise,” whether it’s NFL rumors, negativity, whatever.
