More than 150 youth and high school football players from Metro Detroit will visit Michigan on Thursday and return for the spring game on Sunday through the Semaj J. Morgan Foundation, which has collaborated with Sound Mind Sound Body and NPA Dream Team.

Players will have an opportunity to tour the campus and facilities, meet the Michigan coaching staff and get an in-depth look at the winningest program in college football history.

Semaj Morgan, who signed with Michigan last cycle and enrolled this January, launched the Semaj Morgan Foundation this spring in an effort to give back to his local community.

Here is a statement of purpose from the foundation’s website:

SJM Foundation has noticed a valuable need that affects children and adults in the surrounding metro areas. Such as the need to have food, clothing, educational programs, health awareness, and after-school programs that should help foster well-rounded successful individuals in the community. SJM Foundation would like to lend a helping hand to bridge the gap for the various needs that plague local communities, by providing services that would benefit all walks of life at various stages. We would also like to collaborate with different backgrounds that create think tanks that can help bring solutions to problems that previously might have gone unsolved. Our purpose will bring in new ideas through non-profit collaboration in various components of partnerships throughout Michigan.

Some of the foundation’s future plans are to host various sports camps, support Michigan’s foster care system and promote reading, academic and financial literacy to all communities in the metro area.

A three-star wide receiver out of West Bloomfield (Mich.) High, Morgan signed with Michigan over offers from Bowling Green, Jackson State, Maryland, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Purdue, West Virginia and others.

At 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, Morgan was ranked as the No. 76 wide receiver and No. 519 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Consensus. He is also ranked as the No. 12 overall prospect in the state of Michigan.

Morgan caught 43 passes for 733 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior. He also spent time at both quarterback and defensive back.

Morgan has an On3 NIL Valuation of $49K with 8,900 combined followers on Instagram and Twitter. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Michigan finished with 25 signees in its 2023 recruiting class, which ranked No. 18 nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. The Wolverines ranked third in the Big Ten, finishing behind Ohio State and Penn State.
