The Wolverine’s EJ Holland was recently in Boston for the New England Prep Showcase featuring 2025 On300 West Roxbury (Mass.) Dexter offensive lineman Hardy Watts.

Watts Recruitment

Watts picked up an offer from Michigan in February and has quickly ascended on Michigan’s offensive line board this cycle.

Watts made his first visit to Michigan this offseason and came away extremely impressed with the program on and off the field. Watts is now set to make an official visit to Michigan for Victors Weekend on June 21.

Michigan offensive line coach Grant Newsome made his way to the Boston-area to visit with Watts last week and is continuing to make a strong impression.

“It means a lot to me,” Watts said. “Michigan is a school I’m very high on, and I love Coach Newsome. I love the mentality that he brings and the energy he brings. He’s a young coach. His told me that he loves my pass protection. He thinks I can be an impact player on that offensive line. I love his method of coaching. He’s young and is getting into the drills with the guys.”

Watts recently named Michigan in his top group along with Boston College, Clemson, Duke and Wisconsin. He is set to make his final decision later this summer.

At 6-foot-5, 295 pounds, Watts is ranked as the No. 9 interior offensive lineman and No. 119 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Massachussets this cycle.

Michigan currently has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 56.0 percent chance of landing him. Penn State is in second place with a 13.1 percent chance of landing him. However, the Nittany Lions are not set to receive an official visit.

Michigan has five commits in its 2025 recruiting class — Top 100 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick defensive lineman Nate Marshall, On300 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Birmingham (Mich.) Groves offensive lineman Avery Gach, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens.

The class is ranked No. 15 nationally, per the On3 Industry national team recruiting rankings, and No. 4 in the Big Ten behind Ohio State, USC and Oregon. Michigan is tied for the fewest number of commits in the conference. The Wolverines have an average recruit rating of 90.75.
