There's no question that Penn State's defense was one of the country's best, if not the best, collective units. Most of the big-picture numbers, like rushing yards per game (2nd) and team sacks (1st), were definitive. But the defense played so many players and forced so many short drives that the individual raw numbers don't stand out for any individual player. That's why today, we're looking at some advanced metrics for the Penn State defense to single out standouts in this area. PFF provides stats and, for most, are sorted into 100 snaps per category. We're also only looking at comparable Power Five teams and players.
