Penn State notes include new backup QB; Lions could be down starters Saturday: Newsstand
Will Penn State be without some starters on Saturday when Rutgers visits?
It can’t be ruled out after head coach James Franklin told reporters on Wednesday night that some first-teamers have missed practice this week due to a non-COVID illness. It’s unclear what their status will be prior to Rutgers on Saturday. (Noon, ABC)
That update headlines the newsstand for Nov. 18, but like always, plenty of news and notes can be found below in today’s edition.
Let’s get to them.

Quote of the day
“A big part is that he actually played. He played at the college level. He put in his time.
“Some coaches know what they need to know, but haven’t really played the position. Coach Traut actually playing the position, his resume, that’s a big part of it. Him being able to relate to me is what separates him from a lot of coaches.”
