Penn State assistant to interview for UVA job; Lions headed to Outback Bowl: Newsstand
A new week is here for the Penn State football program.
The Nittany Lions will continue traveling during the recruiting contact period. They will also continue looking for a defensive coordinator while head coach James Franklin tries to keep the rest of his staff intact. That’s easier said than done but is the goal.

We’ll start with the latest on Anthony Poindexter. The UVA great is in Las Vegas to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Apparently, while there, he will interview for the Cavs’ open head coaching job.
It’s why Penn State coach James Franklin must focus on staff retention as much as he is recruiting, bowl prep, and more at the moment. Next, we’ll touch on the bowl matchup, and then share some updates from Franklin’s news conference late Sunday night. It marked the first time that the leader of the Lions addressed the media since longtime assistant coach Brent Pry left for the top job at Virginia Tech.
And, for those wondering, the Outback Bowl is on Jan. 1, 2022, at Noon ET on ESPN2.
Franklin made a pair of in-home visit stops in Ohio on Sunday.
