Penn State has just three games remaining in the 2022 season, including one final away game at Rutgers next week. The Scarlett Knights are 4-5 on the season with a chance to still make a bowl game. With a game at Michigan State this upcoming weekend, plus a trip to Maryland to finish the regular season, the Nittany Lions are easily their toughest remaining opponent.

That game, which will take place next Saturday, Nov. 19, was confirmed to air on Big Ten Network Monday. However, the start time has yet to be determined, with the conference electing to announce all seven of next week’s kick times until after this week’s upcoming games. However, we do know that it’ll air at either 12 or 3:30 p.m.

Since joining the Big Ten Conference in 2014, this game has been a staple on Big Ten Network. Only the 2020 game, which took place in December due to the late start to the season, aired on a different network. That year it was broadcasted on Fox Sports 1. The other seven have all been on BTN.

Similar to last week’s game against Indiana, this series has been lopsided over the years, with Penn State winning 30 of 32 matchups. Rutgers last beat the Nittany Lions in 1988, which was an upset in State College. The other win came way back in 1918, which was actually the first time the two schools faced each other.

Overall, the schools have played eight times in conference play. The average score has been 27-5, with Penn State shutting Rutgers out in 2016 and 2021.

Looking ahead to PSU vs. Michigan State

Although we won’t officially hear from the conference for another week, Penn State’s home finale on Nov. 26 is likely headed for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.

With Michigan and Ohio State regularly playing at 12 p.m. each year, Penn State has played its season finale at 3:30 14 of the past 15 years, including 11 years in a row. The only year that didn’t happen was in 2010. That game, which was also between Penn State and Michigan State, kicked off at noon.

Again, a formal announcement, including which television network, won’t come until next week, but anything other than a 3:30 pm kickoff would go against the trend we’ve seen for over a decade.
