Penn State news, notes, and updates for March 23 include a wrestler in the transfer portal, plus a former Lion finding a new NFL home, men’s basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry moving on, and more.

It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with wrestling. Nittany Lions heavyweight Seth Nevills is in the transfer portal. He spent four seasons at Penn State and won his only two matches, which came in a tournament setting, this past year. A Clover, Calif., native, he also spent the 2021 season on the football team as an offensive lineman.

In other news, former Penn State linebacker Troy Reeder is moving NFL teams. He started his career with the Los Angeles Rams but moved to the Los Angeles Chargers before the 2022 season. Now, he’s off to play for the Minnesota Vikings. He, of course, finished his career with the in-state Fightin’ Blue Hens.

Finally, for this section, we’ll note three men’s basketball developments. Head coach Micah Shrewsberry is leaving for Notre Dame. Seth Lundy is moving on to the NBA. And, guard Dallion Johnson and forward Caleb Dorsey has entered the transfer portal. Penn State athletic director Pat Kraft released a statement on Shrewsberry leaving.

“We thank Micah for his contributions to the PSU community and wish him the very best,” Kraft said, before adding: “we are already moving forward in a search for a new head coach and will identify and appoint a tremendous coach, teacher and person, who will take us to unprecedented heights.

“We are so proud of our amazingly talented student-athletes and all they accomplished this year and will in the future, [and] we are also so appreciative of our student body and our passionate fans who support our basketball program.”
