Penn State tweets of the day

We start with wrestling. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s top-ranked team ended 2023 by landing a pair of top targets in the Class of 2025. Wyoming Seminary junior Nate Desmond picked the Nittany Lions on Wednesday night. He is a two-time PIAA state champ who is competing at 120 pounds. He is rolling at prep-level tournaments so far this season. Flo calls him the No. 18 recruit in the Class of 2025. Then, on Friday, Flo’s eighth-ranked Class of 2025 recruit, William Henckel, also picked Penn State. He is No. 6 at 165-pounds in the outlet’s high school wrestling rankings. From Connecticut, he wrestles at New Jersey powerhouse Blair Academy.

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to Penn State University,” Henckel wrote on Instragram. “I have been blessed over the years to be supported by family, friends and coaches that believe in me and have gotten me to this point in my career.”

Adds Flo:

“The Blair upper-middle-weight’s future college weight is still in question, but the current 165-pounder appears like he could has the ability to grow into an upper weight.”

The duo is joined by the nation’s No. 2 Class of 2025 wrestler, PJ Duke, and Pa., natives Dalton Perry and Asher Cunningham in the Lions’ junior verbal commitment group.

Quote of the day

“There were times where we were there; they were contested throws, and they made a play. I thought our young corners held up decently. But in a game like this, you need to make a play. And we couldn’t make a play to swing the pendulum.”
