It’s hard to shake first impressions and former five-star offensive lineman Nolan Rucci certainly left an impactful one with his high school tape. While we should never take highlight reels for gospel about a player’s full game, it’s obviously useful to examine how a player’s physical traits operate within the game. On that note, it took about two plays for anyone to see just how talented Rucci was as an offensive line recruit.  His frame dwarfed high school football players to a degree that you didn’t question the 6-8 height listed on his profile. But more importantly, he was fast, had great feet and didn’t suffer from an extensively high pad level that tall offensive linemen usually struggle through. In short, he was a true five-star prospect with the potential to grow into an elite left tackle if Penn State could land him.  So, let's flash forward to three years later. What is Penn State getting in Rucci this time around? There’s not a ton of evidence on film but we do have one last example of where Rucci’s development curve took him during his time in Madison. We’ll check out his performance in the second half of Wisconsin’s bowl game against LSU to find out.
