Three linebackers, three safeties, or three cornerbacks? That’s the continual debate in football about what group of players is best to stop modern college offenses. At Penn State, the Linebacker U tradition has granted the team a unique problem. How do they get all of these talented linebackers on the field? This winter, there’s been plenty of conversation about new defensive coordinator Tom Allen and his plans to use a 4-2-5 defense and the best personnel to match that style. It’s also the same conversation we had with former Penn State defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.
