GC LIVE: We have NOT played EA College Football 25 but we have a preview of HUGE recruiting weekend

At the beginning of the month we shared that South Carolina was ranked No.11 in On3’s portal rankings.

While the Gamecocks haven’t added any additional players via the portal, they have moved up to No.10 in the latest portal rankings. This comes following the departure of EDGE Drew Tuazama who entered the transfer portal on May 8. Not only is South Carolina ranked No.4 in the SEC in the portal rankings, they also have one scholarship remaining.

Since the conclusion of last season, 26 Gamecocks from last year’s team have entered the portal. As we mentioned before, South Carolina has landed 21 players via the portal. The majority of those players will be on scholarship.

According to On3’s Team Transfer Portal Index, the only four-star talent that the Gamecocks loss this off-season was Juice Wells. On the flip side, USC was credited with landing three four stars. Those players being Rocket Sanders, Gage Larvadain, and Kyle Kennard.

On3’s Team Transfer Portal Index utilizes the On3 (P)erformance score to measure a team’s production during the transfer process, compared relative against its roster and not a comparison against other schools. This proprietary algorithm determines if a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window.

DL Monkell Goodwine

After spending three seasons in Alabama, the 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive lineman comes to Columbia looking for a fresh start. Despite appearing in just five games over those three years, Goodwine competed against some of the top players in the country every day in practice. The point is, don’t get caught up on his stats until he has a chance to compete with the Gamecocks. Especially when the player is coming from a football factory like Alabama.

WR Gage Larvadain

Standing at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds, Larvadain brings plenty of experience to USC’s young and inexperienced wide out room.Appearing in 36 games in three seasons at Miami of Ohio, Larvadain caught 42 passes for 679 yards and six touchdowns this past season.  RB Rocket Sanders

Eligibility Remaining: 1 year

In 2022 at Arkansas, Sanders rushed for 1,443 yards and ten touchdowns. He also had 271 yards on 28 receptions and two scores. Injuries and a new offense kept Rocket from taking off the same way in 2023 but don’t let that fool you. During that season, he caught 46 passes for 498 yards and five touchdowns. His five touchdowns that season were tied for the 12th-most among all tight ends in college football during the regular season. That production is why he was named to the Mackey Watch List in 2023, which is an award given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.
**Because of his injury this past season, Hunt will be eligible for a medical redshirt season.

RB Oscar Adaway
