2023 Detroit (Mich.) Martin Luther King five-star quarterback Dante Moore is set to make his first visit to Texas A&M June 17-19, per On3’s EJ Holland.

The No. 8 prospect in the On3 Consensus ranking will be making an unofficial visit down to College Station, leaving the door open to potentially return for an official visit.

“I am really interested to see how things are in Texas,” Moore told On3. “Since Johnny Manziel came through and played there, I have had an interest in Texas A&M. It is a top program with some history and I have always wanted to see how things are there. This will be a big visit for me.”

Texas A&M re-entered the quarterback market after losing the commitment of Zachary (La.) High four-star Eli Holstein, who has since committed to Alabama. The Aggies offered Pittsburg (Cali.) High four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada, Louisville four-star quarterback commit Pierce Clarkson, who hails from Bellflower (Cali.) St. John Bosco and Moore after losing Holstein’s commitment.

Jimbo Fisher has been on the phone with Moore, the No. 4 quarterback in the country, along with offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey, who’s leading the charge in Moore’s recruitment.

“Coach Dickey has some swag about him. We have been talking a good bit and he is a good guy. He knows everything about football. I can’t wait to meet him, coach Jimbo, and the entire staff.”

Looking ahead to his visit, Moore’s excited to see College Station for himself. He notes that the offer will be “huge” for him and the Aggies will have a chance to make up some serious ground on schools like Notre Dame, Michigan, LSU and Miami, among other schools heavily invested in the five-star’s recruitment.

“It will be huge for me to get down there and just see how it is,” Moore said. “I will spend a couple of days on campus, I will get a look at everything, and I will get to learn more about the coaches and the school.”

He added.

““They signed the No. 1 class ever last year, so I want to see how they did it. I want to see what Texas A&M is about.”

The five-star is coming off a recent visit to Michigan this past weekend and doesn’t have any other visits set up at the moment outside of an unofficial visit to Texas A&M. The in-state Wolverines have long been involved in Moore’s recruitment and remain a favorite, alongside Notre Dame. Both schools have Moore as their top target on the board and are seen as the two schools to beat.

Moore has used two of his five official visits to date, to Oregon and and LSU last month, and has three left. Oregon is in pursuit of Moore as well as the aforementioned Rashada, while LSU is keyed in on Moore as their top quarterback target on the board, with regional options behind him on their board.

As things stand, Notre Dame is the school out ahead per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, which gives the Fighting Irish a 37.1% chance to land the five-star’s commitment.

Moore ranks as the No. 8 prospect and No. 4 quarterback in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The five-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $658K, and ranks as the No. 30 player in the On30 NIL 100. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
