Where Texas A&M Targets, Commits rank in the updated 2024 On300

Following a busy five months of offseason camps and the first half of the junior season, On3 has updated its On300 football prospect rankings for the 2024 cycle. A number of Texas A&M targets saw massive bumps in their ranking, including priority quarterback target DJ Lagway, who’s now a top-10 prospect and the No.2 quarterback in the country.

Notable Risers

One of the biggest risers in the On300 is Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North EDGE Williams Nwaneri, who ascends over 10 spots, and is now the No. 4 prospect and No. 1 edge rusher in the country. Texas A&M offered in May and he’s intrigued by the Aggies.

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Maddona Prep wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is now rated the top wide receiver in the country and the No. 5 prospect regardless of position. The 6-foot-3, 185 pounder has recorded 428 yards and six touchdowns on just 20 receptions this year in just six games.

Willis (Tex.) High quarterback DJ Lagway rose 10 spots and is now the No. 8 prospect and the No. 2 quarterback in the country per the On300. He’s Texas A&M’s top quarterback target in the 2024 cycle and he recently caught up with Aggie Scoop on the latest in his recruitment

Duncanville (Tex.) High EDGE Colin Simmons is another big riser, ascending from No. 38 to the No. 11 prospect in the country. He’s a top in-state target for the Aggies in the cycle.

Waco (Tex.) Conally cornerback Kobe Black rose over ten spots, from the No. 28 prospect to the No. 16 prospect in the country. The four-star is having an outstanding junior campaign, with 635 all-purpose yards offensively with 22 tackles and two interceptions defensively.

Timpson (Tex.) High four-star athlete Terry Bussey saw his ranking skyrocket, from the No. 101 prospect to the No. 24 prospect in the country, regardless of position. He’s been a do-it-all weapon for Timpson this season, playing quarterback and defensive back for the Bears. Texas A&M is an early leader in his recruitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Longview (Tex.) High four-star running back Taylor Tatum is having a highly productive junior season, and saw his ranking rise over 20 spots. He rises from the No. 59 prospect to the No. 37 prospect in the country. He visited Texas A&M last month.

Lake Cormorant (Miss.) High four-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin rises nine spots from the No. 61 prospect to the No. 52 prospect in the country. He visited Texas A&M twice over the summer and multiple sources indicate the Aggies are among the frontrunners in his recruitment.

Melissa (Tex.) High four-star defensive lineman Nigel Smith is now a top-100 prospect, ascending from the No. 113 prospect to the No. 78 prospect in the country. He recently caught up with Aggie Scoop on his interest in Texas A&M.

Marrero (La.) John Ehret four-star cornerback Wardell Mack rises ten spots from the No. 96 prospect to the No. 79 prospect in the country. Texas A&M is battling LSU, along with Michigan State and Georgia in his recruitment.

Fort Bend (Tex.) Hightower four-star wide receiver Zion Kearney has seen his recruitment take off after a strong showing on the camp circuit this summer and now ranks as a top-100 prospect in the country. He visited multiple times over the summer and the Aggies are an early leader in his recruitment per the On3 RPM.

Texas A&M remains a presence in the Northeast thanks to multiple staff ties to the area and looking ahead to 2024, West Orange (N.J) Seton Hall Prep four-star safety Jaylen McClain is a notable target in the region. He ascended over 80 spots from No. 188 to the No. 100 prospect in the country regardless of position.

Conroe (Tex.) Oak Ridge four-star linebacker Justin Williams rose 40 spots from the No. 145 prospect to the No. 105 prospect nationally. Texas A&M holds a slight lead over Texas in his recruitment. He camped in College Station over the summer and has bonded with linebackers coach Tyler Santucci, as well as defensive line coach Elijah Robinson.

Spring Branch (Tex.) Smithson Valley four-star wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr. rose from the No. 178 prospect to No. 112 in the country after a strong summer and start to his junior season. He unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury early in the season, but was having a standout season prior to the injury.

Lafayette (La.) Christian Academy four-star Ju’Juan Johnson rises from unranked to the No. 117 prospect in the country after a breakout summer. He plays quarterback in high school, but projects to defensive back at the next level.

Pine Bluff (Ark.) High four-star defensive lineman Charleston Collins rises over 100 spots from 235 to the No. 133 prospect in the country. Texas A&M battling Ole Miss, Arkansas and more in his recruitment.

Richland (Tex.) High four-star offensive lineman Daniel Cruz rises from unranked to the No. 138 prospect in the country. He camped at Texas A&M over the summer and the Aggies hold an early lead in his recruitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Another prospect who saw his recruitment take off over the summer, Austin (Tex.) Vandegrift four-star offensive lineman Blake Frazier rose from unranked to the No. 158 prospect in the country. Texas A&M and Michigan among early contenders in his recruitment.

Katy (Tex.) Seven Lakes four-star EDGE Dakyus Brinkley has risen over 50 spots, from No. 224 to the No. 164 prospect in the country. Texas A&M and Texas among two early frontrunners in his recruitment.

2024 Silsbee (Tex.) High four-star athlete Drelon Miller ascended over 30 spots from the No. 212 prospect to the No. 173 prospect in the country. He’s recorded over 1,305 all-purpose yards in just seven games thus far this season.

Woodstock (Ill.) Marian Central Catholic four-star tight end Christian Bentancur ascended from unranked to the No. 195 prospect in the country. He made his first visit to Texas A&M last month and recently recapped the experience with Aggie Scoop. The Aggies are emerging as a legit contender for the four-star out of the Midwest.

Other Notable Rankings

2024 Temple (Tex.) Lake Belton wide receiver Micah Hudson remains steady as a top-15 prospect and the No. 3 wide receiver in the country. He’s visited Texas A&M over five times in recent months and the Aggies are a primary contender in his recruitment.

Los Alamitos (Cali.) High four-star defensive lineman T.A Cunningham over 20 spots, but remains a top-50 prospect in the class, coming in as the No. 49 recruit in the 2024 class. He visited Texas A&M over the summer and the Aggies are in his top 13.

Lancaster (Tex.) High four-star safety Corian Gipson comes in at No. 54 in the country. One of the top defensive backs in the state of Texas, Texas A&M, along with Texas and LSU are contenders to know early on in his recruitment.

Texas A&M four-star defensive line commit Dealyn Evans comes in at No. 172 in the country. He’s the first commit for the Aggies in the 2024 class, announcing his commitment in late July, and has had a productive junior season thus far.

Recent Texas A&M offer and standout St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan comes in at No. 225 in the country. The Aggies offered the four-star while he was in town for the Miami game.

Loganville (Ga.) Grayson four-star athlete Kylan Fox fell nearly 100 spots, but remains a four-star prospect. The versatile athlete is being recruited as an edge rusher by Texas A&M, but others like the Georgia native on the offensive side of the ball as a tight end. Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama also in pursuit.
