Report: Jacksonville Jaguars add college assistant head coach to NFL staff

Rory Segrest – who has most recently worked as the assistant head coach and defensive line coach at Louisiana – is expected to join the Jacksonville Jaguars’ coaching staff, according to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman.
Segrest, a Waycross, Georgia native, spent four seasons on the staff at Louisiana and is now set to reunite with newly-hired Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, as the two previously worked together with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Segrest served on the Eagles’ staff from 2006-10 in various roles – special teams quality control and assistant defensive line coach (2006-07), special teams coordinator (2007-09) and defensive line coach (2009-10).
Segrest attended Alabama and got his start in coaching as a student assistant coach for the Crimson Tide in 1994 after his playing career ended with an injury.
Along with his time at Louisiana and Philadelphia, Segrest has also held positions at Arkansas, Samford, Southeast Missouri State, Auburn and Alabama.
Former Michigan assistant candidate for Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator job
The Jacksonville Jaguars have requested to interview current Houston Texans quarterback coach Pep Hamilton, according to CBS’ Josina Anderson. Hamilton, a long-time NFL assistant who also served as Michigan’s pass game coordinator in 2017, is in the running for offensive coordinator in Jacksonville.

However, there could be a battle over Hamilton’s services. While the Jags and new head coach Doug Pederson are interested, he could very well stay in Houston.
The Texans are interviewing defensive coordinator Lovie Smith for the head job. If Smith gets it, Hamilton is the likely choice as offensive coordinator for the Texans.
Since getting his start in coaching at his alma mater, Howard University, in 1997, Hamilton has coached for eight NFL teams. He’s also coached at Stanford, Michigan and he served as the XFL DC Defenders’ head coach and general manager in 2020. Prior to joining the Texans, Hamilton spent one season with the L.A. Chargers.
Hamilton has primarily coached quarterbacks and wide receivers, on top of passing game coordinator duties.
