WATCH: Cam Newton trucks defender on way to the endzone

Cam Newton is getting the scoring started for the Carolina Panthers. Embroiled in a heated divisional showdown with the Atlanta Falcons, Newton returned to the rivalry with a bang.
On an impressive 9 play, 65 yard drive, Newton had an 11-yard run to keep the offense moving. Then, as his team go close to pay-dirt, the former Auburn star wouldn’t be denied of six points. On 3rd and 3 at the Atlanta 12-yard line, Newton took the football and powered his way into the endzone.
It’s a play we’ve seen Newton make on numerous occasions — and one the Falcons have seen once or twice. After years of facing Newton, the team thought they were done seeing the quarterback in Carolina blue. However, a return to the Panthers set up a return to the rivalry for Newton.
Earlier this season, Sam Darnold led the Panthers to a 19-13 victory in Atlanta. Now, Cam Newton is hoping to complete the season sweep back home in Carolina.
Former Panthers OC Joe Brady would prefer to stay in NFL
Despite ongoing rumors about Joe Brady and a potential return to college football, according to Adam Schefter, the fired Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator “wants to stay” in the NFL.
Multiple sources told Schefter that NFL teams have contacted Brady who was a contender for even bigger jobs with the Jets, Falcons and Dolphins a year ago. However, his report did not reveal which teams have been in contact.

As the Panthers head into battle versus Atlanta on Sunday, former offensive assistant Jeff Nixon will lead the unit.
Brady, 32, played a significant role in LSU’s stellar season in 2019. He helped standout quarterback Joe Burrow become the nation’s all-time passer in a single season. The Tigers went undefeated and won the College Football Playoff national championship.
Following his successful run in Baton Rouge, Brady took his talents to the NFL. As Carolina’s offensive coordinator in 2020, he led the squad to a 21st place finish in overall offense. The former Broyles Award winner was let go by Panthers’ head coach Matt Rhule on Sunday, which was a stunning move to many.
Last week, reports surfaced that there was mutual interest between Joe Brady and Mario Cristobal at Miami.
