The team that stops the run, wins. We need to stop Chiles mobility first and formost. He killed us two years ago in East Lansing. Tough duty playing them at night, in their new stadium after they lost at Oregon.

Go Hawks
Did not realize Chiles was at MSU prior to NW! You are correct he must be contained.

This one is for all the marbles for both teams. I have to admit, I'm not feeling great about this one.
As posted earlier, this game is Iowa's biggest obstacle to 10-2. The Cats are a good football team and we are playing on their field.

matchup wise phil parker defenses have several times become befuddled by such offenses...can't entirely blame the defense coz can't shutdown every opponent. on a unrelated note, the importance of this game would likely be exactly the same even if we had beaten mn

Chiles is our Ds kryptonite he is playing elite this season. The O needs to control TOP and put up touchdowns.
Going into the season you could have said the same thing about Williams at Washington. Solid arm and game changer with the ball when he runs. On the road, to the left coast no less. How'd that turn out?

I feel pretty good about this game. We controlled Williams from Washington and I think he's an overall better player than Chiles. We controlled Colton Joseph as well, another dual threat guy. One was on the road, the other was at home. One was at night, the other during the day.

Now that the calendar has flipped to November, this is when Ferentz's teams typically play their best. I'm expecting a close one, but I think the Hawks pull it out.

Iowa contained him in the pocket for the most part in 2024. He had 1 gain for 26 otherwise had 10 rushes for 25.

He did torch us for like 250 yards and a TD, though.

I think Iowa controls the TOP better since we have an average QB and aren't running Cade McNamara out there.

Don't see it, Iowa's Kryptonite is a QB that can sit in the pocket and deliver. I am far more worried about Wilde picking the secondary apart than I am scrambling of Chiles.

In what metric is Williams better than Chiles?

Chiles is playing good this year, no doubt. Certainly helps that he has Chip as his OC.

But if you didn't think coming into this year that Williams was the better QB, I don't know what to tell you....
So does this answer the question? Which metric this year are we discussing? I would also state that losing a WR like Boston last year, and Chiles having Wilde is a factor, but this does not answer who is the better QB this year. It is without a doubt Chiles.

Chiles has been tearing it up all season. I have watched 4 NW games
