Seriously. You're a Carolina man getting news from WRAL? All they do is self promote themselves nonstop. It's sickening. I was telling my wife this so we watched the 6:00 PM news Thursday. 29 times in 30 minutes they mentioned themselves. Unreal. Sorry. I got off topic. But I'm surprised you watch WRAL and the N & O as much as they do all they can to harm UNC. **** both of them.

I used to watch WTVD in the Larry Stogner days. Once he was gone I switched to Good Morning America and that left me being comfortable with WRAL. And they have Don Schwennaker doing weather.

Don (Big Weather) is on WTVD.

I have a hard time watching any news. Everything is so blown up out of proportion and sensationalized, and they try to scare the hell out of everyone with weather reports to keep people tuned in.

I do have WRAL's App which is a complete joke. I am constantly bombarded with push alerts that are not breaking news. And when Carolina loses a sporting event as soon as it ends I get an alert that they lost but seldom do I get one when State or dook lose.

I'm also supposed to get traffic alerts but never do. Their APP sucks as bad as their local news.

It's not news nor weather I can count on, as they like to say. Lol

I grew up watching WRAL, but they are the biggest joke now. Became that way about 5 years ago with new leadership.

The Wall Street Journal - on-line
Washington Post - on-line
Barron's - have read just about every Sunday for 40+ years ... kept up with it even after Alan Abelson retired.

Various web sites ..... economics related .. not necessarily news:

Marginal Revolution blog -- not really "news" ... but something I look at every day
Greg Mankiw
The Grumpy Economist
Calculated Risk
Ed Yardeni

The only TV news I watch is Bloomberg early in the morning.********

***** I'm sort of embarrassed to say that in the 28 years I've lived in Greensboro the only time I've watched the local TV news was when that guy was stalking Pres. Trump on the golf course in Palm Beach. It turns out he was from Greensboro and one of the men that worked with my wife knew him. So we tuned in to get the story.

I do like Kat. She is pretty accurate on the weather unlike the rest of her crew. Did you know she's only 4'6". lol Talk about tiny!

Not a big news guy so I never actively seek it out, but what I do see generally comes from X.com, the Axios Newsletter, and a couple of small local papers that only publish weekly.

People whine about X because they hate Musk, but IMO the platform is infinitely better than it was prior to him taking it over. I don't have a dog in the political fight, so as an objective user I love how curated the algorithm is for my interests.

Saw an older man sitting in Bojangles this morning in Newport - we stopped on way home from AB - eating his biscuit, having a coffee and reading the Sunday newspaper.

Frankly, I miss those days. Only paper I've picked up in years is TBJ brought home by the better half on occassion.

That said I do watch NBC Nightly news because I like Tom LLamas....other than that, it's online stuff.

I read our local newspaper in Ashe County front to back with coffee every week. Did the same with The Pilot twice a week for years in Pinehurst.

I'm sure some of it is because of nostalgia, but honestly I just find it easier to read a paper than articles online. Same reason I prefer a book to my Kindle.

Just turned 44, FWIW, so I may be one of the youngest newspaper readers still left.

News in the N & O is days old. That newspaper is a joke. They have the nerve to charge something like 6 bucks for a Sunday paper with plenty of wolfpack and dookie sports. I only get a copy once a month because my wife wants the coupons. I get the paper at Dollar Tree for 2 bucks. Everywhere else it's 6 bucks. They copy the articles off UNC websites and post them so I've already read the UNC news. How lame. And all the news is at least 2-3days old. The comics are not funny at all.

It's funny that I was a N & O carrier in the 60's and 70's. They dropped the paper off between midnight and 2:00 AM. I had a 7 mile route on my bicycle. 25 bucks a week. Good money for a kid. All the baseball boxscores werr in it except the west coast games. All leagues were up to date. Now UNC games that are over by 7:00 pm are listed as not available at press time. lmfao at this newsppaer in the comouter age that cannot have updated news. I can't believe people read that piece of **** newspaper.

I used to love being at the beach and picking up a Sunday N&O from the convenient mart, reading it on the front porch with my coffee and a slosh of Frangelico. Then the dang paper got to where it took eight quarters to buy one and I switched to online.

Remember how big it used to be? About 2 pounds. Now it looks like a newsletter. I refuse to read anything concerning the N & O after the way they've treated UNC over the years. **** them.

Yep. All of that.

I remember when I cancelled in 2010. Carrier stopped and asked was it his fault. Nope. The obsession with trying to destroy Carolina was.

Did used to grab the Sunday version for the flyers and coupons. Don’t even do that anymore.

I do still have scrap book after scrap book w articles and box scores from Carolina games since birth.

Same here. Clippings going way back for me as well. I also carried the Raleigh Times. Great newspaper. Sports section was fantastic. Being an afternoon paper made it excellent for getting late night Sports in a computerless era. And it's Sports coverage for high school sports was the best anywhere.

I sill go to the library in Garner and read real Copy NY Timess ,Wall St Journal NAND O for non sporto. Now I do this only about 20 times year. But yea it’s relaxing
