Sorry wasn't for me no idea why. . .

The other big news coming out of the summer beyond Knox’s work is redshirt freshman Jordan Chapman’s plan to move up to 184 pounds this year.
Yes. The article says that Chapman will move up to 184 and compete with SCW for the spot and that Ford will likely be the 174 pounder. Goodale also said that Chapman could eventually move up to 197.

Wouldn't shock me if hes a 197 soon . Didn't he miss weight at 86kg (189) in Vegas in April?

If he has the strength to match, he’ll be freakishly fast for a 197

How is he putting all the weight on, is he going to the all you can eat Buffett every day
Public school wrestler, never looked like he was a huge weight room guy in high school. Definitely has runway to get stronger.

Not hard to bulk up when you’re a high school senior at a public school and then go to a D1 strength training program

If you’ve seen Jordan up close through the years he’s physically a very solid individual with the frame to get big.

Tbh unless Chapman has a realistic chance of winning the spot from SCW/Cotton it’s probably better he’s a Swiss Army knife type and can go either weight in case inj/or someone need matches off..

Kinda like how Cochran was able to go 197/hwt for PSU.. or how Arnold was able to cover 174-197 before he was named the 197 Iowa starter.

Jordan Chapman and his father are family! We go way back! Here’s a little insight, quote “who the hell is beating me at 184” so figure out who said that!

Did P'Nut say that? :)
A little surprised P’Nut isn’t in the preseason rankings.. considering some people here were saying he’s worth a big big bag and good chance for future multiple time AA(hope ur right).

Also a bit shocking that Doucet comes in ranked #1 for Okie State and might not even end up the starter to year 1 Ross.. crazy

Here is our projected starting lineup and their preseason rankings per Flo. Please note, they have only ranked the top 24 wrestlers per weight class when the top 33 guys per weight are ranked once the season starts.

125 - Anthony Knox: Unranked but is standard for a freshman until the season starts. He'll fly up the rankings after a few matches if he looks as good as we think he will.

133 - Brett Ungar: 23rd, seems reasonable.

141 - Kelly Dunnigan: Unranked, probably our weakest weight.

149 - Brandt Harer: Unranked, same deal as Knox.

157 - Conner Harer: Unranked, likely starts the season in the late 20's or very early 30's once full rankings come out.

165 - Andrew Barbosa: 18th, seems reasonable.

174 - Ryan Ford: Unranked, feels low as he majored #13 Colin Kelly last year, and only losses were to #17 Ryan Burton and #1 Mesenbrink. Also beat #20 Carter Baer at U 23's this summer. I feel like low 20's would've been reasonable.

184 - SCW: #10 right behind our old friend Soldano. This is where I would've had him ranked as well as he lost the head to head last year.

197 - Remy Cotton: #12, seems reasonable, could probably argue to put him at #11 over Rademacher but we're splitting hairs here.

285 - Daniel Herrera: Unranked, probably starts the season in the late 20's.

Curious to hear everyone else's thoughts on this.

- On paper, a better dual team then a tournament team.. can we get a big dual win against a team like Minn again?
- Season will come down to how good Knox/B. Harer are/ if SCW/Cotton improved enough to crack the blood round/ how much C. Harer, Barbosa, Ford improved/ and how good transfers, Ungar, Dunnigan, Herrera end up being…
- Seems to be a lot of question marks/potential to be an exciting season.. and a lot of room to climb the rankings but for now these preseason rank are reasonable.

My predictions:

Knox will be a top 3-5 wrestler before seasons end.

Herrera will be in the 15-20 range and SCW will settle there as well. Ungar probably gets there too.

Both Harers, Ford, and Dunnigan will be in the 20-25 range.

Knox will be our only AA but we will have 10 NQs if everyone stays healthy.

I think Dunnigan will be our highest climber from the initial rankings. I think he’s better than people are giving him credit for.

FR seems like a very conservative prediction…15-20 range for SCW?? That would be regression no?

20-25 range for B Harer… meh idk y but it seems like in years past when RU had a big time recruit there would be a lot of hype… but with Brandt it seems most have been pretty conservative.. maybe it’s bc of afraid of possible disappointment from years past when recruits missed after being overhyped. Brandt is the winningest wrestler ever from PA so I’m still hoping he can have a monster first year but better to wait and see..

Not sure if one AA and 10NQ would move the needle but it’s a start from the last few years of no AA. Still hoping can get at least one more..

I think RU needs at least 2 AA's. That was the bar for a few years until the team regressed in the national tournament. Hoping for big things from B Hardt and i think if his brother made some growth the past redshirt, he can get to the blood round and maybe surprise us.

Understanding the hesitation to rank B. Harer any higher... Top recruits burning out @ RU is a common trend we have had for a while now. Got hope in things turning out well for him though. As others have pointed out, you don't win that much in PA by being a slouch.

Hopeful for P'Nut to provide long-term stability to HWT, given how he stepped up for Iowa State in the absence of Bastida.

I'd love to see Cotton AA after coming so close last year.

Everyone else besides Knox... let's see.
