I agree with the poster. He just missed the punchline from his tOSU perspective - Tightly contested. Convincingly lost.

I guess people see what they want to see.

But the majority of matches were bonus point wins (5 for PSU, 1 for OSU). And while three of their starters sat, all three then lost to a PSU wrestlers a few weeks later - 1 by pin, one by TF, 1 by 4 points.

And in the three OT matches an OSU wrestler never got a TD. You can say it is close, but are you really ever close to winning if you cannot get a TD?

I guess I see what I want to see too, and it is not closeness.

Will admit one area we do need to improve on this off season and during the season is our “Mat Wrestling”. We got exposed during the NCAA tournament more than usual.

I think that’s something that develops in the room over time anyway. I recall Mitchell coming in as a redshirt freshman and having some difficulty, particularly on bottom, but he worked on his mat skills the following two seasons and moved from a catch and release guy to a nasty guy from either side of referee’s position. Luke has followed much the same path.

Funny story, I was at the Black Knight last season and Jayden James came into the arena and set down in the stands next to me with a few of his buddies. One of them asked Jayden what he had to offer for his “mat game” and Jayden replied “not much”. Granted, he was just then entering his HS senior year but I’d bet he follows a similar path to Mitchell, Luke, and others.

They can’t all come into the room as Zain, but a lot of them leave the room with a lot of Zain-like influence.
