That ought to do it, we look not like what we have been seeing in a number of years. Michigan is physically stronger & some of or passes have been read & picked off.
I know we are young but they said so was Michigan.

Great run by Coco on the end line, keeping that ball in play with a great pass to find Bruder.

She signed the #2 recruiting class in the country + 2 talented international players, plus one of the best goalies in the portal. One of the international players is unfortunately hurt.
There’s not really anyone out there you can get to replace someone like Heck or Dani Mendez.
We lost 6 starters, including 3 All-Americans.

I can not believe we just played an entire game with no corners attempted. Stat of the day for sure!

I’ll say it again guys… CORNERS! I honestly think we did not look to find a foot in the circle once all game. We only have the most lethal weapon in the penalty corner game… Huge head scratcher from me all game.
The whirlwind of losing Dani and Sietske couldn’t have been easy to deal with… but alas here we are. We desperately need a midfield presence to rise to the occasion. Coco did better in the second half, but I’m afraid we are asking too much of her. I suspect this is where not having Imme hurt most. Sofia and Morgan showed great promise in their first games. Reid Miller too! She looks physically more than ready.
The initial corner call against Grace still does not make sense to me. It subsequently lead to the stroke call. Surprised EM and staff did not ask for the crew to take a second look…
On to the next. Go Heels!

I'm not panicking, just stating a fact. But really, when was the last time Carolina lost their opener?
I agree, you need to relax. We all knew that this year's team is very young It is made up of mostly talented freshmen and sophomores. They maybe have two seniors on this team. She played a lot of freshmen today, not by default. The mistakes that you pointed out are correct and typical of freshmen when they play their first collegiate game. This happens in all sports. EM and staff are playing a tough schedule. I stated a few days ago that they were going to take some lumps this year, more than we fans are use too as a result of the tough schedule and the team being so young with EM playing around eight freshmen each game. They will get better each game; they will gain valuable experience along the well. It does matter how you start but where you finish at the end. Michigan on the other hand was a more experience team. The commentators stated they a few years ago, they were very young. Now those same players are juniors and seniors, and the experience took over during overtime. For us to go to overtime with them for our first game of the season with a bunch of freshmen speaks volumes. I am proud of this team, they will make the adjustments, they will fight to the bitter end as you saw. I know that is what I say from them. Believe me, those young ladies do not like to lose. They will bounce back the next game. You can take that to the bank.
Yes, she did, our recruiting class was highly ranked this year. It is going to take time for these young women to adjust to the college game. Be patient.
I am not sure, but those teams in the past did not have to rely on freshmen out of the gate like this year. We still had a chance to win this game. We did not get blown out. We went into overtime.
probably 2021when we lost to Michigan and Iowa to start the season. We still won the ACC that year but lost to NW in the 1st round of the NCAA

with the final score and how it was achieved. But, I was more surprised with the
final tally of the WFU and Iowa match.
I was told by two different sources that it is expected for Imme De Leeuw to be
out for at least two more weeks. We'll see.
Wake fans Mia Schoenbeck was at the game, not in uniform of course. But, she plans
to play next weekend.

Matson's staff will rely heavily on their underclassmen for production this year with five sophomores and four freshmen making up the bulk of the 16 total that played on Friday. It was a pair of veterans that got the Heels back in this one in the fourth quarter though.

The USA draw against Argentina was against the eventual World Cup champions (who beat NL in a shootout in the final.)

I have watched Las Leonas play several friendlies against Team USA at UNC-CLT.
What a treat it is to watch field hockey played well and at that pace, speed and quickness.
I am not saying Majo is the best player in the world; but, I would not argue with those who do.
Perhaps some of you saw the USA vs Argentina match and her post game interview.
You could see the tears forming in her eyes, sense the hurt in her voice.
No matter how happy our USA side was, they were more sad because of the tied score.
Redemption, yes?
