Idk that they stink but wth has happened to St. Laurence who was predicted to have a great shot to win it all
People were fooled last year into thinking Laurence was an above average team. They beat King 19-0, NND by 2, St Patrick, Leo, and Evanston. Not exactly world beaters. Crushed by the good opponents they faced and gifted a playoff draw that would make anyone jealous.

I saw them live twice and felt they had a very solid team.....not a state title caliber but still solid.

Which games were those? When you live in the CCL it’s tough standards to live up to! If they didn’t convert their zero on the clock 2pt attempt vs 3-win NND they weren’t even a playoff qualifier.

I’m looking forward to an amphibious athlete at MC . That will surely drive the haters nuts.

I covered that game last night.

Laurence was awful. Disorganized, especially on special teams. Offensive scheme was nonexistent.

They got stopped at the goal line just before the end of the half due to a rushed play call (they had lost an earlier timeout to a mixup on a punt where they had 10 men. Then, they snap the ball over the punter's head for a safety). They also had a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown.

I know that Prospect is very good. But Laurence looked like they would rather be back in Burbank then in the NW burbs.

Sounds like a new coach trying to get his bearings. He’ll get better each week.

STL had 3 eventual state champs on their regular season schedule last year. Not many others that can say the same. They beat Bradley Bourbonnais in the second round and Dunlap in the quarters. Not a cake walk by any means.

Last night was bad, particularly the second half and special teams. That being said, STL started a ton of juniors, two sophs, and two freshmen. Mistakes are bound to happen. I’m confident Coach Swanson is up to the task.

The refs also dropped the ball in that sequence. I’ll admit that STL wildcat definitely did not get into the end zone, but they DID get a first down. Clock should’ve stopped with about six seconds left on the half yard line. If you don’t believe me the game is on YouTube. Watch for yourself. Not saying it would’ve mattered, but it’s definitely a backbreaker going into the half.

I think a couple verses of Plastic Jesus by Paul Newman from Cool Hand Luke might get this conference back on track. Let’s Go CCL!! We need wins, we need convincing wins. Let’s go… next week is week 3.

Ii was not a well officiated game. Laurence should have never even got the last play off because the officials had stopped the clock for some reason, then reset it and put more time on the clock.

In addition, they also allowed all the Laurence players to line up at the 22-yard line for the free kick after the bad snap gave Prospect as safety.

I believe they stopped the clock because the previous play had been ruled a fumble or incomplete pass. Never really got clarification on that. But yes, they were not good, and I’m usually the last person to criticize officiating.
