Tickets not an issue
Not that unusual - a little organization and people willing to be proactive and front the $$$
A lot like you used to do w/Blue lot tailgates, but this time at an away venue - time, preparation and interest amongst like-minded people
Definitely not easy to do
Held tailgates at many collegiate stadiums across the country for business entertaining. It’s fairly easy to get parking passes and group tickets at many of the “sought out” destinations. Plan 6 months to a year out. We would usually contact the Presidents office or Athletic Directors. Tell them our intention and they were happy to assist. Key is not to go through regular ticket office. They suck in most college settings not just at RU.

Indiana will travel well. It's one of the negatives of being in NJ/NY. Most every B1G school has a large contingent of people that live in NYC. It's also an easy attraction for people that don't and want to see a game an experience NY.
Our next coach needs to put the PR machine in overdrive. It's easy to not feel any connection to a program when they don't do anything to truly promote it. Make some scratch off selling tickets to away fans? Not hard when that's the case.

I have several Green Lot passes. I asked my R Fund rep to find out if we could gather in the back (always empty) corner of the lot with a bunch of other families with young kids who had purchased Green Lot passes on the secondary market and just try to park together and set up a tailgate. These families were a mix of season ticket holders and casual fans who attend selected games. We were basically told no and when we pulled into the lot the parking attendants were obnoxious when we tried to park together. Nice that Indiana fans get to do this when we could not.
Wish your story was an anomaly. Sorry to say it is the norm with R fund reps.
If you pull in together, you should be parking next to each other. We have 4-6 cars that pull in together and we park next to each other so we can tailgate together.
Yup, happens all the time going back decades. Still recall the parking attendants bending over backwards to accommodate Notre Dame fans while not allowing a couple of late comers to our group to park across the aisle from us.
The RU Screw exists for a reason. Not surprising away fans get better treatment
NY Post dedicated five pages in its Sunday addition to its college football preview and zero mention of Rutgers. And Rutgers grad and former nj.com Rutgers beat writer Ryan Dunleavy works there.
I listen to WFAN for several hours almost every weekend in the summer while driving and zero mention of Rutgers football. It is all pro sports. When I spent two days driving back and forth across South Carolina a few falls ago, all people talked about was college football.
Every Sunday, NY Post has long form interview with a local sports figure,. I picked up the paper the last few weeks hoping to see Schiano interviewed. Nope. Pikiell did an interview but that was when team was good so many years ago.
Hopefully one day the winner bringing in the fans to Piscataway is Rutgers, not the away team and its fans.
Happens everywhere. Not a biggie IMHO. Shoot, you and I have been to events as such on the road, right?

It’s on the football coach. Why would the NYP be interested in a losing team when discussing college football at large? Program has zero stain. The coach brongs no excitement or PR skills to the game on top of it. I
I would imagine you can park together if you arrive at the same time (just like any other lot).
Otherwise RFund and the AD can’t be making special treatment for all these groups unless you’re one of the biggest donors, then I’m sure they would have accommodated your group.

yes, but I've been to official RU tailgates run by the RFund or athletics. Not a bunch of local RU grads putting together a tailgate.
I know RU has previously sectioned off part of the practice soccer field for official visiting school tailgates, but I've not seen anything like this being announced by a local group before.
I am deathly afraid this is going to happen.
Have you looked? Just like we do it for away games, pretty sure everyone else does too.
As others have mentioned this happens all the time. Especially in the Green Lot. I used Purdue as one example.

nah, no doubt Greg is at fault as well but it's her department and she needs a holistic view of everything. It's her job get the departments moving forward to promote athletics. There are too many things being missed here but, she's just started yr 2 so nothing happens overnight (supposedly)
Ultimately it falls on her
She's the one in charge, and it's her *** on the line if things don't work out

I said this in the blackout thread and no one believed me. Did you watch the playoffs last year. They sent 60,000 to the Peach Bowl. Had 75% of the Rose Bowl crowd again actual Alabama. And 95% of the crowd in the national championship against Miami literally in Miami’s stadium.
the dumbest possible game to do the blackout. There will be as much red as black in the stadium. Really really stupid but unsurprising for this athletic department
It's been covered. They had no choice in the matter, and so it's not the dumbest possible game-it's the only possible game. Blackouts occur in night games. There are likely only 2 night games- Howard and Indiana. It will be great to have a full stadium of fans. Maybe the Indiana fans will show Rutgers fans how to arrive early and not in the middle of the first half.
Tiny bit hyperbolic on the national championship numbers. Estimates were closer to 60-75%. Still very impressive and I absolutely expect them to ruin the blackout

IDK. It's a fun environment, especially when they do the drone light show. Maybe they are mutually exclusive?
The drone show at USC was great and there were two tones of red shirts in the crowd, very few black
