With NIL as it is today some pros could probably make more money signing with a college team than they are making from pro sports. On top of that some college players with huge NIL deals may take a pay cut when they go pro.

I understand WHY they’re trying to do it, old buzzard. It’s bc of just what you stated, but that doesn’t make it right. I seldom watch professional football. I’d hate to turn off the college kids. NIL, transfer portals, uniforms with sponsors‘ logos on them, and now, professionals returning to college. i miss the purity of the game.

It's great to see the Old Buzzard back. He usually shows up at this time of the year to cry about how hard WVU's schedule is, but he can't this year, as Wren Faker replaced Alabama with Coastal Carolina, and the big non-conference opponent in 2026 is Virginia, an ACC basketball school.

Some of them are 25 and 26 years old. Will they take retired 40 year olds next? College shouldn't be a minor league for NFL. Once drafted no more college.

Why are WVU fans crying about NIL? Going back to Shawne Alston, WVU players have been at the forefront of suing the NCAA for extra benefits.

This is more about pro athletes returning to college. Now go back o your playpen. Just because it's not illegal doesn't mean you can't ***** about it. This is still America right. At least until commies win. I guess you support communism.

Stop crying, geezer. Rich Fraud would take anybody, and you know it. I remember when Fraud cried because the Big East put an end to allowing non-qualifiers/partial qualifiers. Impressive win over the roosters yesterday. Cock a doodle doo! LMAO!

Whatever you say Tranny.

It's not about who would take who. It's about no rules. So get your head out of your *** and worry about Michigan ripping you off like they did Western Michigan.

Good timing, Paw Paw.

"West Virginia has added a significant late piece to its secondary with a commitment from former Georgia safety JaCorey Thomas."

"Overall, Thomas played in 45 games during his four seasons at Georgia. "

"His path to Morgantown comes through an unusual set of circumstances.

Thomas participated in rookie minicamp with the Carolina Panthers earlier this year after his Georgia career appeared to be complete. He was then among 40 players named in a temporary restraining order issued by a judge in Dallas that restored their eligibility for the 2026 season."

"Thomas was one of four players included in the order who had spent time with an NFL organization during the offseason."

All of this information per Vernon Bailey on the main free board.

I told ya so.

Under NCAA Agent Legislation rules (Bylaw 12.3), student-athletes lose their amateur eligibility if they sign an agreement with an agent or allow someone to market their athletic ability.

You are generally allowed actual and necessary expenses for a limited official tryout per professional team, but you must self-finance any extra travel or extended stays.

You cannot sign a professional playing contract or agree to be represented during a tryout without losing your amateur status.

  • Because players on a tryout do not sign a contract or get paid a salary, they do not lose their amateur status.
  • This allows players like former Georgia defensive back JaCorey Thomas to enter the college transfer portal and play college football again after an unsuccessful NFL tryout
NCAA Rules - look it up.

I'm not for it but I don't write the rules.

You're arguing with yourself, as I never said that this signing broke a rule. You and Humptod supposedly don't want professional players to return to college. Yet, WVU just signed a guy who not only played four years of college football but also participated in rookie minicamp with the Carolina Panthers, an NFL franchise. My entire point is that it is hypocritical for you to whine about the system when your favorite school is at the forefront of pushing for expansion of player eligibility and benefits.

"Once a pro, ALWAYS a pro." I realize that Carolina is a poverty franchise, but it is a professional football team. Use technicalities and loopholes all that you want, but stop crying, geezer.

Carolina Panthers = NFL poverty franchise, but a professional team nevertheless. I remember a couple of years ago when WVU fought like crazy to get Raequan Battle eligible to play basketball...only to lose to hapless Radford and its big border brother Buckeyes in Cleveland.
