I am rather optimistic despite the 0-2 start. The growth from game 1 to game 2 is very encouraging!
Erin really meant it when she said she was using this weekend as a learning experience.

I’m not really discouraged especially since we’re not healthy yet.

Will be interesting to see how the goalie situation works out.

And also, these are two really good teams we lost to.

With a young team, a lighter start would have been ideal.

Skubisz over Shahbo and O'Donnell does not need to see the field again. Both of their goals in the run of play, they went right at her. And she's the one who fell down in the 1st game.

I totally agree. We had a lot of penalty shots where we did not capitalize on. This team is young and inexperienced right now except for Bruder. They made strides from the first game to this game. They should not put their heads down and feel upset right now. They are getting better with each game that they play. These two losses are going to help us in the long run. They will be ready and they will figure it out on who can help score besides Bruder.

No, I like EM's approach. We need to get exposed right now so the team and coaching staff will need what areas need fixing, they can use the film as a learning tool to help this young team get better, and it gives the team and coaching staff a challenge on what is working and working is not working and they have time to correct them. Also, it gives the young players the opportunity to see who is going to step up and help with the scoring because Bruder cannot do it by herself since teams will put all of their attention on stopping her.

That’s fair as well. And as we saw, there was improvement from Friday to today.

Well, if you do not play them during a game of this magnitude then how will EM and staff know what they can and cannot do. How will these players grow if you keep them on the bench. Also, if Skubisz should happen to get hurt down the road, then what is the team going to do then. One of them will be forced to play then. I would rather play them now and get them some valuable experience to help them learn and grow. You cannot blame them for the lost like you are trying to do. We had 7 penalty kicks in the first half that I say, if we would have made 3 of them, we would have won the game. We did not capitalize on the penalty kicks like we should have as a team. That was the difference in the game IMO. We out shot them by a large margin.

Food for thought ...

UNC has always - always - been ranked in the NFHCA Polls.

Selected are twenty winning teams in Division 1 as choosen by the Coaches Association.

So, there is some subjectiveness to it.

But, not wins and loses.

"Eligibility Criteria:

After two weeks of regular season competition, eligible teams must maintain a
record of .500 or above to be eligible for ranking each week."

Does that equate to "Week 2 - September 8, 2026?"

By that date, it is expected that our Tar Heels will have played regular season
matches against Michican, Iowa, Penn, and Princeton.

Do you like our odds?

Not too concerned about the polls, but if we lose 4 non-conference games it will really hurt the conference computer strength (assuming other ACC teams don't pull off big wins) That would put a ton of pressure on winning ACC games against really good teams to make sure we make the tourney. Beating average ACC teams wont move the needle.

Remember the are only 8 at-large spots in the NCAAT.

I think this team is still pretty darn good. We took Mich to overtime, though they had the better game overall. We outplayed Iowa everywhere except the scoreboard.

Does anyone know the status on Imme De Leeuw? Will she be able to play soon? How about Cecily Moorhead? Has she played at all yet? I do not recall seeing her on the field against Michigan and Iowa State.

Princeton is really good this year. We have to take it one game at a time. Go Heels!

If you subscribe, you can actually catch Duke lead NW 2-1 and about to take an APC.

Duke now leads NW 3-1 at the Half.

Pains me to say this but Duke is looking very strong. Lot of complaining by NW most of the game if you can believe it (warms my heart).
Agree.
Sessa just missed a Penalty Stroke. Duke leads 3-1 still and is a handful.

Duke is going to have to win this game; NW will not relent as a successful APC has them down by 1, 3-2.

That female ref with the knee brace is doing absolutely everything to get NW back in this one. God I hope we don’t see her this season
