Princeton dominated the first half but the game was tied 1-1.

Rutgers turned things around in the 2nd half, sparked by the slew of freshmen, who provided energy and skill, putting much more pressure on Princeton’s midfield and creating several scoring chances for Rutgers.

The game winning goal to make it 3-2 was a beautiful long ball from the right midfield down to Calvert on the left side, and she used her speed to dribble past the defender and then shoot the ball back towards the far post and into the net.

Nice to see the women’s soccer team win. They outplayed Princeton in the second half and more importantly out scored them 3-1. Teams seems to be improving.

I had Mike written off as our coach come November, but I may have to gladly eat crow.

Those freshmen look mighty good. We in fact had several good chances during the second half.

The coaching staff needs to take a step back and reflect. Conference play is around the corner and they’re celebrating this win like it means anything. Wake up and smell the roses, big ten is coming and Mike O’Neill’s inability to coach will shine through

One thing to factor in is that we are starting and playing a very young team. That will mean some WTF loses for sure.

this team is so perplexing. are we young? yes! but the inability to connect basic passes while not under any pressure transcends youth. This is a trait of MON teams for a long long time now.

That said, some of these youngsters are SO SO GOOD. i'd love to see them develop (and not get poached)... and, I hope we dont see some of the REGRESSION we've seen with some of the other uber talented players in the past few years.

Womens and Mens Soccer should both be top top programs.

Yeah, MON seems similar to Pike in the sense that they recruit players and rely on those players’ individual skills rather than trying to work on scheme etc.

interesting.

before college sports turned on its head, I think Pike had a very strong track record of improving players.

I dont see the same thing from MON (across the board...of course there are players who have improved under him)

I do agree with you that they recruit a specific type of player for their system.

I agree with you about player development -- Pike has a track record of success there. But player development is a different conversation than scheme.
