Coupled with my age its difficult remembering a player's name let alone his back story. Things evolve I'm happy I experienced the Pre-NIL era though. Eager to see what the NIL morphs into. Either it becomes unionized or ?

Told the wife this past weekend that I need to get a roster to see what guys were "Penn State" players and were the other guys are from.Coupled with my age its difficult remembering a player's name let alone his back story. Yeah, I noticed that last week, let it bother me too.At the beginning of any CFB broadcast, announcers introduce a player, say what other teams he played for and move on to the next one. Really nothing else.![]()
Curt FloodI agree with the OP. I was accustomed to watching kids develop and hoping my favorites got their chance to shine. Now I won’t have time to learn their names before they play or become irrelevant. No more emotional attachments which of course can be detrimental to winning but will be something I will miss.
This happened with pro sports a long time ago. I lost interest in baseball. My interest in the NFL definitely took a hit. Now the interest is in fantasy football and prop bets and I don’t like either.
I as well. Unfortunately, what you describe has gone the way of rotary phone. Neither is coming back.Coupled with my age its difficult remembering a player's name let alone his back story. Much worse. Unrestricted free agency annually.Curt Flood
In the past I would yell: Get him Shane! Get him Trey! .......now I yell from my living room, Get him 24, Get him 19.
Don’t worry, it’s just a matter of time before PSU puts last names on the jerseys. Then we can “forget history” and remember names. In the past I would yell: Get him Shane! Get him Trey! .......now I yell from my living room, Get him 24, Get him 19.
I can't imagine the money will ever go away. The athletes won't let that happen. I don't even know how the NCAA could stop or limit transfers since regular students can transfer at will. The only difference is that regular students can't afford the cost and academic distruption.Coupled with my age its difficult remembering a player's name let alone his back story. Congress has a few proposed bills but they're struggling to get consensus. I read that the BiG and SEC are not going along with these proposals.
Maybe they should just eliminate the charade and call it a professional sport that just happens to be played on college campuses. No scholarships. Let high school kids enter a draft just like the NFL & NBA.
That opened the door for players to switch teams but at least they signed contracts that bound them to a certain team for a number of years.Curt Flood

is that what you imagine?FWIW just about all of Campbell’s players from ISU have been with him their entire career. I would imagine we see more longevity and continuity than others in the sport.
I can agree with of that except betting markets drying up. Gamblers will always be around and they don’t care who is playing.Wait until the bubble bursts. Not enough fans to keep up with ever-increasing costs. Fans disgusted by the money and corruption. Advertisers bail. Betting markets dry up. Empty stadiums, no big TV contracts, no money. Back to kids focusing on education. Figure it will happen by 2035.
