Here's a funny appliance story that has nothing to do with this thread. My job as a work crew foreman for the Lycoming County PRC had me responsible for taking care of 14 County bridges, three which were covered bridges. The bridge from this story was the covered bridge in Buttonwood, which is located next to Smouder lumber along Rt 15/99, also between Frey's Turkey Ranch and Liberty.
A guy had a new refrigerator on the back of his pickup truck and was going to go across the covered bridge. He forgot about the 8' 6" headache bar and totaled his new fridge. I would've liked to witness that in person!
